The
last 2 hours of the bus ride were in complete darkness from
our seats in the back of the bus. Doolin is an incredibly
small town and there is not much visible at night, so I
was surprised when we finally pulled up in front of Paddy's
Doolin Hostel.
We stagered into the hostel as our legs
got used to the idea of walking again. As we secured two
beds for the night, we found the family run hostel incredibly
friendly. Unfortunately most of the dorm rooms are not coed
so Justen and I had to be in separate rooms for our two
night stay.
We took a quick look around the spacious
and homey hostel. There is a cozy living room with a fireplace,
comfortable couch and chairs and a TV. The kitchen is enormouswhich
makes life easy at mealtime when everyone is trying to prepare
meals.
We made our way upstairs to find our rooms.
Justen's room was just down the hall from mine. I passed
the bathrooms with showers on the way to finding my room.
As I opened the door to where I would stay
for the night, I found my three roommates happily chatting
away. I was readily welcomed into the conversion by the
three girls.
The room had 2 bunk beds complete with
warm blanketsI would get a bottom bunk tonight. Justen
came by before we went to sleep to see how I was doing.
The next morning, we had to get up early
to catch the only bus out to the Cliffs of Moher. It conveniently
arrives in front of the hostel at 8:00am. A return bus leaves
the cliffs in the late afternoon.

When we returned to the hostel in the early
afternoon, we found that there are picnic tables just outside
the kitchen for you to eat your meals.
In the evening we took the quick 20-minute
walk to the ocean. Just walk down Fisher Street to the pier
where you can catch the ferry
to the Aran Islands. We enjoyed the majestic sunset over the
deep blue ocean and could see the Cliffs of Moher in the distance.
We stopped for fish and chips as we made our way back to the
hostel for the night.
Over the two days we were in Doolin, we thoughly
enjoyed our stay at Paddy's. Whether it was talking with our
fellow travelers in our rooms, hanging out in the living room
watching TV or cooking our meals, we found that Paddy's has
a wonderful, comfortable family feel to it. A place where
you can relax and enjoy the peace of being out in the countryside
of Ireland.
